Ghana: Vice President calls for more trade with EU

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has underscored the need for enhanced trade and investment between Ghana and the European Union (EU) in a veritable spirit of partnership. Addressing the 2018 Session of the Ghana-EU Political Dialogue in Accra on Thursday, Vice President Bawumia said since last year’s dialogue between the two sides, there had been an increase in the number of trade missions from the EU member states to Ghana, and a sharp climb in investments, in line with the Government’s vision of “Ghana Beyond Aid”. The dialogue was held under the theme: “EU Partnering Ghana Beyond Aid”, which brought together key stakeholders from Ghana and the EU, including eminent Ambassadors, Ministers of State and technocrats to discuss socio-economic issues of mutual interest. It also created a unique platform for frank and constructive exchange of ideas and sharing of information that would deepen and strengthen their relations and transform their economies for the benefit of their peoples. The meeting was co-chaired by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Ambassador Diana Acconcia, the Head of the EU Delegation to Ghana. Vice President Bawumia recalled the meeting held on November 7, last year, between the two sides and noted that, the progressive made so far was remarkable since it would enhance their mutual agenda.
