Our video guest this week is Mr. Shantayanan Devarajan , he is the Chief Economist of the Africa Region at World Bank. Mr. Devarajan was in Brussels for a consultation meeting on the World Bank's "Renewed Strategy for Africa" on the 14th of September, 2010.
Over 160 participants attended the 20th Brussels Development Briefing on ‘Financing agriculture’ on 15 September 2010 at the Borschette Center, Brussels, Belgium. As an input to the UN Summit on MDGs to be held in New York on 22-26 September 2010, the meeting discussed issues related to financing development in the context of agriculture and rural development.
South Africa's President Jacob Zuma was at the European Parliament Wednesday (29 September) to hold talks with MEPs. His main message was for sanctions to be lifted against neighbouring Zimbabwe. He said they had hurt South Africa and harmed Harare's path to political reconciliation between Robert Mugabe's Zanu PF party and Morgan Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change.
