The new French Ambassador to Haiti, José Gomez, believes that France and Haiti are united by a friendship rooted in shared values and language. "My mission and that of the Embassy is to further enrich this relationship so unique and strong," he said, adding that "the intensity of political exchanges between our two countries, including the interview in December 2017 between Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Jovenel Moïse, after the visit of President Hollande in May 2015, testifies to this mutual attachment. The intellectual proximity and language between our two countries makes education, thought, arts, privileged areas for our exchanges. Thus French cooperation contributes to the modernization of the education sector, from basic to higher education, through technical education. The French Embassy will work with the French Institute to promote our artistic exchanges and our intellectual dialogue. French cooperation supports institutions and the rule of law to build a more efficient public administration, serving all Haitians. We plan to work more with our Haitian partners on the environment and adaptation to climate change, a phenomenon that is seriously affecting this country.
