The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), which officially opened in August 2005, has, as its mission, the coordination of the Caribbean region’s response to climate change. During the course of the last Brussels Development Briefing, entitled “Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security: proven approaches and new investments”, we had the opportunity to speak to Carlos Fuller, who is one of the centre's experts. He sat down with us to explain the CCCCC's main ongoing projects and developments to date.
The Brussels Development Briefing on “Climate change, agriculture and food security: proven approaches and new investments” took place on 27th September, 2012, at the Charlemagne building, and attracted more than 180 ACP and EU policy-makers, NGO representatives and Member States delegates actively participated. A wider audience followed the Briefing through a live webstream and participated via email and Twitter.

There is also an urgent need to create incentives, encourage farming as an economic activity, and integrate young farmers into agricultural policies. Following a first meeting in June, 2012, this week a second meeting has been held in Brussels to outline the structure of the next Pan-African Farmers Organization (PAFO) Continental Briefing, which will focus on defining the future of African agriculture and the renewed role of farmers’ organizations with the support of CTA and the African Union Commission.
Trinidad and Tobago will host the Second Meeting of the Trade and Development Committee (TDC) this week, under the Caribbean Forum of ACP (CARIFORUM)-EU-EPA framework. A preparatory meeting of CARIFORUM officials, also to be held in Trinidad and Tobago, will be convened ahead of the TDC.
