On 12 September, on the occasion of his State of the Union Address, President Jean-Claude Juncker said: "Africa does not need charity, it needs true and fair partnership. And we, Europeans need this partnership just as much. Today, we are proposing a new Alliance for Sustainable Investment and Jobs between Europe and Africa.

The Austrian presidency of the EU council is planning an EU-Africa Summit. EURACTIV Germany reports. The fact that population growth in Africa would become a major challenge for the EU has long been known. By the middle of this century, this continent’s population is forecast to grow to two billion people.

Vestas has won an engineering, procurement and construction contract for Lekela's 159MW Taiba N’Diaye wind farm in Senegal, marking the Danish manufacturer's debut deal in the African country. The agreement covers supply, transport, installation and commissioning of 46 V126-3.45MW turbines. Delivery is planned for the second and the third quarters of 2019, with commissioning in the third quarter of that year and first quarter of 2020.

Strong growth and digitalisation in Africa, makes it the perfect destination for Nordic firms and organisations looking for dynamic new markets and opportunities.
