Kenya: Deputy President W.Ruto in Italy to boost agriculture

Deputy President William Ruto has been spotted in Rome, Italy, touring daily farms and speaking to Italians about their farming business days after he urged disgruntled Kenya farmers to learn how to diversify instead of lamenting. The DP is understood to be in Rome to pursue avenues of collaboration in areas of agriculture, trade and to explore new markets for Kenya's agricultural produce such as coffee and tea. The benchmarking mission, TUKO.co.ke gathered, was also meant to help Kenya gain insights on best practices in agriculture and ways to improve food security. According to the DP, placing value in modern agriculture will enhance production, ensure quality assurance, promote diversification and accelerate food and nutrition security. Ruto cited the mechanised daily farming at the Maccarese Farm in Rome as one of the best practices that local dairy farmers could borrow to not only improve their produce but also grow their farming business rapidly.
