On the eve of an Agreement of European tax on financial transactions (TFT) which should be implemented by the European elections on the 25 May 2014, the effectiveness of the taxation solidarity in the fight against AIDS and development needs to be noted. TFT will allow new additional sources of funding to be found to continue to assist the poorest countries.

The town of Marigot (South- West department) in partnership with the  Institute for Research and Support to Local Development (IRADEL - l’Institut de Recherche et d’Appui au Développement Local) and the European Union delegation in Haiti, launched the “Support for local development, for the capacity building of local authorities to improve access of basic essential services to the people of the Marigot community” project, an initiative funded by the European Union (EU) amounting to 485,000 Euros.

A number of donors from the EU have signed agreements with Tanzania granting more than $103 million (170 billion shillings) to finance agriculture and infrastructure projects. The European Union was providing $82.7 million (136 billion shillings) to fund agriculture, roads, energy, and ultimately trade and development. The financing is part of an agreement with the European Development Fund to support agriculture, roads, energy and trade and development. Other donors include the United Kingdom Department for International Development, the Rural Energy Agency and the Belgium Technical Co-operation.
