Germany:$110 M for development projects in Kenya

Germany has granted Kenya $110 million to fund various development projects in the next two years. The agreement was signed in Nairobi on Friday, 7 December 2018, by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary to the Treasury, Henry Rotich, and Germany’s government director for East Africa, Niels Breyer. Both sides agreed to focus on agriculture, youth employment and agribusiness, as well as strengthening productivity in Western Kenya and enhancing drought resilience/food security in Turkana and Marsabit in northern Kenya. Three centres of excellence and hubs for young entrepreneurs will be established aiming at empowering Kenya’s youth and bringing them into employment. In order to promote good governance, Germany offers support to Kenya’s anti-corruption policies, as well as the implementation of the UN Agenda 2030.
