21 September: Brussels Briefing 46: Agribusiness Development & Tourism Markets in SIDS

The next Brussels Development Briefing n.46 on the subject of “Agribusiness development in SIDs: the potential of tourism-related markets” will be held in Brussels at 09:00-13:00 on 21st September 2016 at the ACP Secretariat (Avenue Georges Henri 451, 1200 Brussels). This Briefing will be organised by the ACP-EU Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), in collaboration with the European Commission / DEVCO, CONCORD and the ACP Secretariat.

CTA is recruiting a trainee for its Brussels Office. The position is open to ACP and EU nationals. A six months contract will be offered from September 2016. This contract can be renewed once for a maximum of 6 months. Further details on requirements and how to apply can be found in the note attached.

The CTA Brussels News Service is providing EU-ACP policy news since 2004, on various key thematic areas. In addition to this news service, we also provide news on ACP intra-regional trade, and south-south cooperation (investments of emerging countries' in agriculture in the ACP regions). The European Commission today proposed to set up a new European External Investment Plan (EIP) to encourage investment in Africa and the EU Neighbourhood, strengthen partnerships and contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Announcing the initiative, EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, said: “If we look at the Middle East and Africa, we see regions with a huge potential that is being held back by war, poverty, the lack of infrastructure, and weak governance. Our European Union is already the first donor worldwide: we invest more in development cooperation than the rest of the world combined.
