Mr. Denys Gauer,the French Ambassador to Nigeria, has high hopes that France through its Development Agency will explore areas of collaboration with Nigeria through Contec Global Agro limited (CGAL), a subsidiary of Contec Global for the development of organic agriculture production.

The ‘Destination chocolatiers engagés’ label, aimed at sharing with Cameroonian cocoa producers the expertise of French master chocolate makers to help them to produce high quality cocoa, was launched on 26 June 2018 in Paris by the President of the French Confederation of Chocolate Makers and Confectioners, Frédéric Chambeau, and the President of the Cocoa and Coffee Inter-professional Council (CICC), Appolinaire Ngwé.

The French Development Agency (AFD) has approved a €8 million grant that will be directed towards the development of the Tendaho geothermal project in Ethiopia. The geothermal project is being implemented by Ethiopian Electric Power, in coordination with Geological Survey of Ethiopia.It is funded by the European Union, through the European Union Africa Infrastructure Trust Fund (EU-AITF).

The negotiations for a new ACP-EU agreement should start after the summer break. The African, Caribbean and Pacific group of countries was the first to adopt its negotiating mandate on 30 May, during the ACP Council of Ministers in Lomé. The EU mandate has been approved on 22 June, with limited substantial changes to the Commission’s proposal from December 2017.
