To improve information sharing and promote networking, the ACP-EU Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) in collaboration with FAO, AgriCord and other partners will organise a high-level panel in Brussels on 16 October 2012, in the context of the European Development Days. Various panelists will give their perspectives on how they see the future of farmers in the context of new drivers affecting food production, trade and the environment.
The 29th Brussels Development Briefing on 'Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security' was successfully held on 27 September. In collaboration with the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), CTA organised this Briefing. In a blog post written on the Briefing, CCAFS states that there was a general consensus among all panelists that institutions and policies are among the major obstacles in developing countries for rolling out and upscaling CSA practices.
The St. Kitts-Nevis government remains concerned that it could come out worse off if it starts to implement duty free access for European goods coming into the federation and it is seeking an extension in implementing certain measures under the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) that it and other Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) countries signed with Europe in 2008.
