Lomé, the capital of Togo, will host a meeting of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly from 16 to 23 November, the Vice-President of the Togolese National Assembly, Sélom Komi Klassou, told the press on Monday. Apart from recommendations and resolutions which are set to conclude the meeting, discussions and debates about the food situation in Africa, access to medication, the Arab Spring and its repercussions as well as the proliferation of weapons in the world are planned.

Ivan Hermans is the Deputy Director of the UNFPA Brussels office. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) publishes a State of the World Population report every year. CTA interviewed him at the occasion of the launch of the 2011 report. In the interview, Mr Hermans presents the report's findings for ACP countries and talks about the importance of family planning.

On 31 October, the 7 billionth citizen in the world will see the light of the day. At the launch of the annual UNFPA report on the state of the world population in Brussels, panelists said that the continued increase of the world population poses challenges, but also opportunities.
