The 19th Brussels Development Briefing will be on Youth and rural development in ACP countries and will take place on 16th June 2010 (8h30-13h00) at the Borschette Center. This Briefing will discuss the challenges and opportunities for future ACP young farmers and the potential of rural youth in terms of employment, income generation, access to financial services, investment and ICTs as well as provision of formal and non-formal agricultural education and social services.

In the follow up of last week's video guest, the theme of the current video interview is the role of regions in development cooperation. However, unlike last week, our video guest this week is a policy maker from an ACP region and not from a region of the EU. Mr. Aboubacar Savadogo is the President of the Council of the northern region in Burkina Faso.
Following the 'Europe 2020' paper adopted by the European Commission on 3 March 2010, the European Commission is now launching a broad public consultation on the future direction of EU trade policy. The Commission's intention is to set out its policy during autumn 2010, explaining how trade policy can help achieve the objectives of the 'Europe 2020' Strategy.

On 18 May, in Madrid during the VI EU-Latin America and the Caribbean Summit, Heads of State and Government will announce the creation of the European Union-Latin America and Caribbean (EU-LAC) Foundation. The European Commission is contributing to the Foundation with €3 million euros up to 2013.
