The next Brussels Development Briefing n.46 on the subject of “Agribusiness development in SIDs: the potential of tourism-related markets” will be held in Brussels at 09:00-13:00 on 21st September 2016 at the ACP Secretariat (Avenue Georges Henri 451, 1200 Brussels). This Briefing will be organised by the ACP-EU Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), in collaboration with the European Commission / DEVCO, CONCORD and the ACP Secretariat.

CTA is recruiting a trainee for its Brussels Office. The position is open to ACP and EU nationals. A six months contract will be offered from September 2016. This contract can be renewed once for a maximum of 6 months. Further details on requirements and how to apply can be found in the note attached.

The CTA Brussels News Service is providing EU-ACP policy news since 2004, on various key thematic areas. In addition to this news service, we also provide news on ACP intra-regional trade, and south-south cooperation (investments of emerging countries' in agriculture in the ACP regions). The main stories for the week are featured in our newsletter and all stories can be found in our Regional Trade and the South-South cooperation sections.

The EU has initialled an Economic Partnership Agreement with 16 West African states, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). Negotiations of "stepping stone Economic Partnership Agreements" with Ghana and Ivory Coast were concluded in 2007. Following ratification by the Ivorian Parliament and the European Parliament, the stepping stone Economic Partnership Agreement between Ivory Coast and the EU entered into provisional application on 3 September 2016. The Economic Partnership Agreement with West Africa covers goods and development cooperation.
