Save the Date:  European Commission High Level Event on Innovative Ways for Sustainable Nutrition, Food Security and Inclusive Agricultural Growth

Food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture are among the EU’s top development priorities for the period of 2015–2020. In this regard, research and innovation are fundamental pieces to achieve food and nutrition security goals. The EU is launching four major initiatives to support partner countries in food security and agriculture specifically addressing the key areas of innovation, nutrition, resilience and financing. Featuring a high level panel of speakers: Neven Mimica, Thiery Mandon, Rudolf Strohmeier, Monique Pariat, Marjeta Jager, Maria Angeles Benitez, David Nabarro, Charles Brand, Marie Konate, Tom Arnold.

The CTA Brussels News Service is providing EU-ACP policy news since 2004, on various key thematic areas. On 16 April 2016, a High Level Dialogue (HLD) meeting on migration was held in Accra between Ghana and the European Union (EU). Ms Hanna Tetteh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana and Mr Prosper D.K. Bani, Minister for the Interior, met Mr. Bert Koenders, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, who was visiting Ghana on behalf of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini. The EU and Ghana have long-standing political, cooperation and trade relations framed by the agreements between the EU and the ACP countries.

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the European Union (EU) have begun an initiative to establish a code of practice for Nigerian Agricultural products for exportation. The information is contained in a statement jointly signed by Mrs Chinyere Egwuonwu, Deputy Director, Standards Directorate, SON, and Mrs Irina Kireeva of EU. The statement said that as part of efforts to achieve the goal, the organisations had concluded plans for a final national training on standards on code of practices for the products.
