The CTA Brussels News Service is providing EU-ACP policy news since 2004, on various key thematic areas. In addition to this news service, we also provide news on ACP intra-regional trade, and south-south cooperation (investments of emerging countries' in agriculture in the ACP regions). The main stories for the week are featured in our newsletter and all stories can be found in our Regional Trade and the South-South cooperation sections.

A review of policy issues and challenges facing agriculture and rural development in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries from 2007 until 2015 is now available in multimedia DVD and USB stick. Knowledge and policy dialogue are a prerequisite for Brussels-based actors engaged in ACP agriculture to be able to better respond to emerging challenges. To help meet this need, CTA has just released a new multimedia pack that reviews key documents and highlights from the Brussels Development Briefings spanning eight years. Including more than 30 background research documents ('readers'), the pack aims to provide insight from experts, decision makers and key actors, in a format that contributes to knowledge sharing amongst the development community in Brussels and beyond.

A marathon visit to some initiatives funded by the European Union in Burkina. The sites involved are the Medical Centre for the treatment of epidemic diseases, which also houses a maternity unit, and the Tanghin-Dassouri weighing station. The European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, was mandated by the European Union on Friday 12 February 2016 for this tour of the "Country of Honest Men". The first centre to be visited is at the CMA de Pissy in Ouagadougou. Accompanied by Dr Smaïla Ouédraogo, the Minister of Health, Neven Mimica, the European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development and his delegation visited the maternity unit and the operating theatre at the CMA de Pissy.

The French Government is preparing to create closer links between its bilateral aid tool (the AFD) and the Caisse des dépôts et consignations. The desired objectives include: increasing its international funding in support of climate efforts. "Africa is still and will continue to be our principal area of intervention". Michel Sapin, the French Finance Minister, is currently putting the final touches to a bill providing the French Development Agency (AFD) with the backing of the Caisse des dépôts et consignations (CDC). This reform will be presented to Parliament in the spring and should become "effective in September 2016".
