The government of Cameroon will host a distinguished group of business leaders in Yaoundé for a high-level investment mission from 8-10 December 2015. The mission is being organised by DMA and provide a unique opportunity for investors and business leaders to deepen relationships in Cameroon. It will also allow them to secure new investments and witness first-hand the opportunities in one of Africa’s emerging markets. Organised by DMA, and supported by FCO and UKTI, the trade mission will take a group of current and potential private sector investors in Cameroon to meet with Prime Minister Philémon Yang and his cabinet in order to build on the momentum gained from the highly successful UK-Cameroon Trade & Investment Forum (also hosted by DMA in London back in 2014).

The Cook Islands Fishing Association says there's worry a new fishing ageement will impact on the sustainability of bigeye tuna. The Ministry of Marine Resources has entered into a draft agreement with the European Union that will allow Spanish purse seiners into Cook Islands waters. The president of the Cook Islands Fishing Association, Don Beer, says most members practice subsistence fishing, and have noticed a decline in fish catch over the years. Mr Beer says members are aware the Spanish purse seiners will be targetting skipjack tuna, which has a healthy population. But Mr Beer says members are concerned about the impact on bigeye and yellowfin tuna, which local fishermen rely heavily on.

Bamboo Finance is teaming up with Louis Dreyfus Holding to launch and manage a new impact investment fund which will target SMEs in the agribusiness sector in sub-Saharan Africa. Louis Dreyfus Holding is seeding the fund, NISABA, with $10 million. The partnership expects to hold the final close for the fund, which is hard-capped at $50 million, in mid-late 2017. The fund is attracting interest from investors in both the developed world—specifically impact investors and DFIs—as well as African pension funds. “We are excited to apply an integrated investment approach with a vast network of local expertise for the benefit of smallholder farmers and their communities, while demonstrating the value of impact investing,” said Bamboo Finance CEO, Jean Philippe de Schrevel.
