CTA, in partnership with GIZ, UNIDO, COLEACP and SNV hosted a lab session dedicated to  Small Farmers Big Business (SFBB) on the theme of “value chains, value gains”. Dr. Agnès Kalibata, the new President of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, (AGRA) gave the keynote speech and underlined the importance of bringing private sector on board, as well as the importance of private sector presence at forthcoming EDDs. The SFBB Partnerships’ vision was explained: sustainable development must go hand in hand with the engagement of the private sector, with the aim to achieve food security in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.

Fiji shall host the 29th session of the African Caribbean and Pacific – EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. This is a milestone achievement for the country, given that the Fijian parliament is barely six months old. Parliamentarians from 78 countries in the ACP and EU region will gather to discuss issues that are currently affecting these regions, including climate change, democratization, challenges of empowerment of women and others issues. EU’s Head of Delegation Andrew Jacobs said that the meeting also shows the confidence the region has in Fiji’s parliamentary democracy and the effective establishment and operation of Fiji’s parliament.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union and of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) met in Brussels on 9 June 2015, on the eve of the EU-CELAC Summit scheduled for 10 - 11 June. The Summit was co-chaired by the High Representative and Vice-President, Federica Mogherini and by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, Ricardo Patiño, as the acting President of CELAC. In total, 61 EU and CELAC delegations participated in the ministerial meeting, exchanging views on the future of bi-regional relations amidst the new global challenges.
