Kenya: EU in Sh1.2 Billion Food Research in Baringo

THE European Union will spend Sh1.2 billion to research on the indigenous crops and livestock in the Arid and Semi-Arid areas of Baringo county.

This is aimed at increasing food production, said African EU coordinator in charge of agriculture Dominic Davuu.

Addressing the press on Monday in Kabarnet town, he said his team is on a mission to check the possibility of funding new projects and up-scaling the current projects in the county.

"The mitigation scheme will ensure farmers in Baringo county focus in drought resistant crops and livestock breeds that survive in adverse conditions and produce throughout the year," Davuu said.

He said this the EU has released the research contingency funds towards integrating all the possible economic products in Baringo county.
