Organic farming: Senegal to sign an agreement with the EU

The workshop committee in charge of monitoring and formulating the implementation of the environmental policy in Senegal was held last week with the Minister of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Mor Ngom as Chairman and in the presence of the Head of Delegation of the European Union in Senegal, Dominique Dellicour. The Minister revealed the upcoming signing of an addendum on sustainable agriculture in partnership with the European Union. This supplementary agreement will then establish favourable conditions in view of the National Indicative Program for the eleventh European Development Fund (EDF).
According to the Minister Mor Ngom, it is necessary to develop a genuine inter-sectoral dialogue for better integration of the environment in the various national policies and strategies.
At the recent meeting between the European Union and the African Union, President Macky Sall received an outstanding support of 20 million Euros for Environment and Sustainable Development.
"We must move quickly in synergy with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Economy and Finance," suggested the Minister of the Environment.
