MEPs whishe to strengthen EU trading rights

The European Parliament called on the Commission to strengthen the EU's trading rights and interests both within the WTO and in bilateral agreements, in Strasbourg, on Wednesday 23 October. Currently, in the absence of horizontal legislation for the handling of disputes, all litigation decisions are handled on a case by case basis, which is very slow and not dissuasive to trading partners who do not fulfill their contractual obligations, according to the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE). In his report, ALDE MEP Niccolò Rinaldi (IdV, Italy) also requests that EU need to enforce effective retaliation measures, which should also include the services sector. " The Commission must understand that we are ready to use these instruments" he said.
