ACP leaders hope that EU will consider developing countries regarding trade issues

The Assistant Secretary General of the  African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (ACP), Achille Bassilekin and other leaders, hope that developing countries will remain in consideration when the EU makes trade agreements with other nations. They made this statement, this week in Fiji for a joint meeting, during a joint meeting with representatives from the European Union (EU), about the farming and sugar trade.
ACP leaders are also concerned that the quota for EU sugar imports from ACP states is set to end in 2014, as opposed to renewing the agreement until 2020. They regret that the quota ends with such short notice.
