European Union supports bee farming in Fiji

The European Union (EU), has supplied bee and honey harvesting equipment to the beekeepers of the Northern Bee Farmers Co-Operative (NBFC) in Fiji. Over 70 members of NBFC will benefit from this support and will share the equipment.
Additionally, the NBFC’s office will undergo a renovation, and upon completion, will house a new honey processing facility. The president of the NBFC notes that this support will increase both honey production in the region and the income and standard of life of bee farmers. The NBFC directly purchases the produce from farmers, guaranteeing the beekeepers a steady income while honey is in season. Future plans for the NBFC include improving the quality of the honey so the product can earn higher prices in an even larger market.
