EU backs stabilisation force in Mali

According to Reuters, the EU  has affirmed its readiness to back the deployment of an African stabilisation force under United Nations (UN) mandate in Mali, and threatened sanctions against those post a threat to democratic change.
Also, the bloc promised to lift most of the sanctions slapped against Zimbabwe a decade ago if the country holds a “credible” vote.
The step, according to Reuters is part of the West’s strategy of rewarding Zimbabwe’s uneasy coalition government for progress made since a disputed 2008 vote, while keeping up pressure on veteran leader Mugabe to carry out more political, economic and social reforms.
