Grants to fishermen operating in waters of Guinea-Bissau

According to the Fish Site, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment in Guinea-Bissau is in the process of awarding grants to operators and crews of vessels fishing in waters of the country, as these have been hard hit by the suspension of the Agreement between the EU and the African country. Aid for the owners is set to reach approximately €290,000 per month, and €45,000 per month for the crew.
The political situation in the country and the impossibility of ensuring the safety of ships and their crews in these waters, led the European Union Council to decide not completing the internal approval process of the new protocol agreement with Guinea Bissau.
