MEPs suggest attaching water-saving conditions to farming

During the course of the last meeting of Environment (ENVI) Committee, MEPs suggested to work on clearer water pricing schemes, better wastewater management, blue flags for rivers and attaching water-saving conditions to farming and energy subsidies. For them, reducing water consumption should be a priority.
They insisted on the need for an audit of the state of Europe's water network, and stress the need "to encourage infrastructure investments". They also recalled that about 20% of water in the EU is lost due to inefficiency.
