A new campaign against hunger

In view of the  high number of people who suffer from chronic hunger and malnutrition worldwide,  the European Commission, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the European Professional Football League (EPFL) will campaign together to raise awareness and encourage much-needed action. As expected, one of the main pillars of the campaign will focus on the looming food crisis in the Sahel region.
The climax of the campaign is the 2012 Match Day Against Hunger. This third edition of the event will bring together at least 20 European Football Leagues and over 300 professional football clubs in more than 150 stadiums in at least 15 countries. The matches will take place on 31st of March and 1st of April.
