Glimmers of hope for Somalia: ACP ambassadors lend their support

As we announced previously, Somali Prime Minister H.E Abdiweli Mohamed Ali visited Brussels and spoke to the Committee of Ambassadors of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP Group) this week.  The Somali Prime Minister explained the current state of affairs in Somalia to the ambassadors and addressed efforts being made to cope with security and nation-building concerns. Moreover, as was to be expected, he called for support regarding the London-Somali conference, also scheduled later this week.
Brussels witnessed one of the most eagerly awaited meetings of ACP ambassadors. Following the speech of the H.E Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, ambassadors from Kenya, Djibuti and Uganda, among others, welcomed his updates on Somalia and stressed the importance of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
The Somali Prime Minister also drew attention to the humanitarian situation as,  amid sociopolitical instability, famine has been ravaging the country in recent years. He condluded stating the situation in Somalia must and will change soon.
