Kenya taking steps to ensure full traceability

According to Businessdaily Africa, Kenya seems to be doing more and more to ensure it maintains its lucrative relationship with Europe as an export market for its fresh produce. The country  is amending legislation to ensure full traceability of all produce from field to market.
Under the new laws, exporters will have to pass strict licence criteria, will have to provide a list of all suppliers and producers they purchase from, and give details of production output and capability. Exporters will have a period of 3 months to update their licences.
It is important to note that Kenya banned the pesticide ingredient, dimethoate, as a response to growing awareness and concerns over food safety issues in Europe, an important market for the African nation.
