Fiji: closer to implementing fisheries legislation

Under the ACP Fish II Programme, Fiji will benefit from nine of the 26 fisheries projects, with a foreseen  budget of EUR3 million ($F6.9m). Pacific region projects will see Fiji in particular developing subsidiary legislation to implement fisheries legislation.
Presently, a standard national monitoring control and surveillance operations manual is being introduced in Fiji, the Cook Islands, Niue, Tonga and Vanuatu.
According to a statement of the African Caribbean Pacific Group of States Fish II programme (ACP Fish II), this manual is intended to be a reference document designed to guide monitoring control and surveillance (MCS) officers in the performance of their duties.
