European Parliament: changes approaching

The Parliament will elect a new President as well as the 14 new Vice-Presidents and Quaestors at the first plenary session of 2012, that will take place on 16-19 January. Current office-holders can be confirmed for a second mandate. All elected offices are renewed every two and half years, so once in the 5-year legislative term.
Parliament's standing committees will elect their Chairs and Vice-Chairs during the week starting on Monday 23 January. Chairs and Vice-Chairs can also be elected for a second mandate. Parliament's inter-parliamentary delegations will do likewise.
Offices are expected to ensure an overall fair representation of Member States and the political views thereof.
