EU to collaborate with Nigeria on job creation

European Union is set to partner with the Federal Government on job creation, in a bid to address the issue of unemployment in the country. Head of European Union Delegation, Nigeria and Ecowas, Mr. David Macrae, stated this when he met with the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, recently in Abuja. Marcrae expressed the organisation's willingness to assist Nigeria in the fight against unemployment especially in line with the transformational agenda of the government.

"I think it is right to say that amongst issues of the highest importance to the good of Nigerians is the quest for employment which government alone can not do and as the Minister of labour you have the direct involvement" he said.

He lauded the planned removal of oil subsidy initiative of President Goodluck Jonathan, stating that the attendant benefits far out-weighed the present practice.

The envoy called on Nigerians to support the deregulation policy of the Federal Government as it was in the best interest of the masses that subsidy be removed and accrue resources channelled toward other developmental projects, which are sure way to generating jobs for the teeming populace.
