France signs €326m contract with Cameroon

Henri de Raincourt, France’s Minister of Development, has signed a contract with Cameroon worth €326m over the next five years. In total, this represents the largest aid programme ever carried out by the French development agency. The payout also represents the second phase of a Debt reduction and Development Contract (C2D) between France and Cameroon. France is one of the largest bilateral partners with Cameroon. Between 2006 and 2011, France committed €713m in aid, of which the first phase of C2D counted for €537m. In accordance with the wishes of Cameroonian partners, the second phase of C2D will focus on agriculture, rural development and food security (60% of the total budget), urban development and infrastructure (34% of the total), and professional training (4% of the total).
