EU grants Mauritania 12.4 million euros

Mauritania's minister of economic affairs and development, Sidi Ould Tah and the head of the European Union (EU) delegation in Mauritania, Hans-Georg Gestenlauer, on Monday signed a financing agreement for 12.4 million euros earmarked for projects in support  of trade and governance, an EU communiqué said. The funding will be allocated through a new cooperation programme between the Mauritanian government and the EU within the framework of the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) for the period 2010-2011. The EU financial support is expected to largely contribute to the capacities and performances of the Mauritanian government and trade.
