Spain backs Ethiopia’s climate change mitigation measures

Ethiopia has signed a grant agreement amounting to four million US dollars with the United Nations and the government of Spain. The grant secured from the government of Spain would be channelled to the UN agencies in support of Ethiopia’s effort in challenging the effects of climate change. According to the agreement, the money would be spent on various programs aimed at enhancing capacity of pastoralists to plan and execute climate change adaptation and mitigation measures across the nation. The programs would be implemented at the national, regional and woreda levels. The joint program agreement was designed to benefit pastoralists living in six woredas of Oromia, Somali, Afar and South Ethiopia People’s States.
