European Commission appoints a new Director-General to DEVCO

Today, the European Commission appointed Stefano Manservisi as Director-General of its department for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO) as of 16 May. Mr Manservisi, an Italian national, is currently Head of Cabinet of High Representative/ Vice-President Federica Mogherini. Mr Manservisi brings more than thirty years of experience in the Commission to this job, including six years as Director-General of the department for Development and Relations with Africa, Caribbean, Pacific States (DG DEV) and four years leading the department for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME). He also served as Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey. Between 1991 and 1992 and between 1993 and 2000 he worked in the private offices of Vice-President Pandolfi and Commissioners Raniero Vanni d'Archirafi and Mario Monti, respectively. In 2000, Mr Manservisi joined the private office of President Romano Prodi, first as a Deputy Head of Cabinet and then as a Head of Cabinet. Stefano Manservisi started his career in the private sector and worked in the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade before joining the European Commission in 1983.
