Mali-EU: 147 billion CFAF to support State reform and economic recovery

More than 147 billion CFA F is the amount covered by two agreements signed two days ago between Mali and the European Union. The first relates to the Support Programme for State Reform and the Consolidation of the Rule of Law. The second concerns the new European Development Fund (EDF) Authorising Officer Support Programme. These two agreements fall within the framework of the 11th EDF signed between Mali and the European Union in Brussels concerning aid of more than 400 billion CFA F for Mali. The main objective of the first agreement on the Support Programme for State Reform and the Consolidation of the Rule of Law is to support our country through budgetary support amounting to 144.3 billion CFA F for the period 2015-2017. With an envelope of more than 144 billion CFA F, it is aimed at restoring stability, strengthening the rule of law and implementing comprehensive institutional and economic reforms for the consolidation of democracy and to improve governance of the economic recovery. These reforms are required by the Algiers peace agreement and will concern, among others, public finances, the fight against corruption, increased transparency, strengthening decentralisation, improving access to education and quality of education.
