ACP: support from FAO for South-South cooperation

At a meeting between the FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva and the Committee of Ambassadors of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of countries, ACP Secretary-General, Patrick I. Gomes praised Mr. da Silva for the transformational changes he has made and his commitment to addressing food security and nutrition, as well as issues of climate change. Gomes stated, "He (Graziano da Silva) has spearheaded reforms that have entailed, among other things, refocusing FAO's work, strengthening its institutional capacities and its partnerships with civil society, the private sector and academia, and boosting the FAO's support for South-South Cooperation." FAO Director-General also cited Cyclone Pam as a "reminder of the vulnerability of Small Island Developing States to natural disasters and to climate change" and announced the  launch of the Trust Fund to address this specific issue.
