PACSUN, an international alliance to save cassava

Twenty-eight international organisations, foundations, research centres, NGOs and universities have joined forces to combat cassava diseases in Africa. The PACSUN (Pan-African Cassava Surveillance Network) was set up at the beginning of August. The idea behind its launch had been established during an international workshop on the surveillance and control of cassava diseases in Africa, organised in Réunion, on 10–13 June, by the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD) and the Research Institute for Development (IRD), under the aegis of the Global Cassava Partnership for the 21st Century (GCP21).
