Madagascar: 8 million euros to fight against climate change

Madagascar is amongst the countries most vulnerable to climate change. In spite of efforts in terms of implementation of national adaptation and mitigation policies, there remains much to be done to fight the adverse effects on the population: increase in temperature and sea levels, the frequency of natural disasters such as cyclones and floods or atmospheric pollution. This is why the European Union has contributed 8 million euros to the Ministry of Environment, Ecology and Forests to help reinforce actions against climate change. A European Union delegation, headed by the Ambassador Leonidas Tezapsidis announced this news to the new Minister Anthelme Ramparany during their meeting on the 2nd of May. Both parties insist on the necessity for continuous cooperation in terms of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
