As the priorities of Cyprus' Presidency of the EU Council of Ministers have been presented to European Parliament committees by Cypriot ministers this week, Sofoclis Aletraris minister for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, stressed Cyprus' commitment to drive forward the sustainable development agenda, despite rather limited outcomes from the Rio+20 summit.
Water, climate and biodiversity issues also encouraged discussion , ahead of further UN summits in Hyderabad and Doha. MEPs exchanged views on proposals that may be made on Cyprus' watch, like the revision of the 2020 CO2 reduction target.
