The ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly meets in Lomé

Lomé, the capital of Togo, will host a meeting of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly from 16 to 23 November, the Vice-President of the Togolese National Assembly, Sélom Komi Klassou, told the press on Monday. [...]

Apart from recommendations and resolutions which are set to conclude the meeting, discussions and debates about the food situation in Africa, access to medication, the Arab Spring and its repercussions as well as the proliferation of weapons in the world are planned.

Three workshops on social order will also be held during the meeting. The focus on the topics “Energy challenges in developing countries: What are the perspectives? The example of electricity”; “Problems of public health, malaria and its socio-economic consequences” and “Participatory approach of youth to the development process: strategies against poverty and youth unemployment”. A special forum is set to be held on the “Role of women in the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts”.

The meeting will end with the adoption of recommendations and resolutions on different subjects relating to development and to peace.
