Update of the examination process of directive 91/414/EEC

According to directive 91/414/EEC, all phytopharmaceutical products that are used in the European Union have to be examined. The examination period started in 1993 and will elapse at the end of 2012. This examination process has allowed the Commission to establish a new list of approved active substances (which can be found in the annex of the directive 91/414/EEC). The member states may only authorise phytopharmaceutical products whose substances are mentioned in the list. The details in annex I cover a general period of ten years. After this period, every pesticide has to be examined again. You can find more general information about the directive on the PIP website.
