OECD report on French Development Policy from 2013-2018

Angel Gurria, Secretary General of the OECD, today submitted to Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, a report from the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the OECD on French development policy from 2013 to 2018. The report commends France on its announcements that it will increase government aid and on the changes to the strategic direction of its policies, in line with the Sustainable Development Objectives (SDO). It also notes the reinforcing of its dialogue with non-state actors. It underlines the front-line role that France plays in terms of international stability and the fight against climate change. The recommendations aim for a better management of cooperation efforts, in the context of an increase in state aid launched in 2017, and in adapting its approach in order to concentrate efforts on fragile states and less advanced countries. The conclusions of the report are fully aligned with the modernisation of French development policy, as requested by President Macron, and being carried out by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
