Germany: €13.6 M for the civil registry in Cameroon

The Federal Republic of Germany and Cameroon on Tuesday signed two intergovernmental cooperation agreements in the capital of Cameroon, worth a total of €13.6 million (about 8.84 billion CFA francs), aimed to modernise the civil registry and support decentralisation. The first agreement, backed by the Civil Registry Modernisation Support Programme (Programme d'appui à la modernisation de l'état civil – PAMEC), aims to support the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development, the National Civil Registry Office and local authorities in implementing a reliable and inclusive system and statistics in the pilot regions in the north and south-west. The second convention, for its part, supports the process of improving living conditions and the development of local authorities through social and economic infrastructures in a process of decentralisation.
