The EU is funding the strengthening of capacities for Central African mayors

With the aim of strengthening the capacities of the local authorities, the Commission of the European Union (EU), through its Head of Delegation to Yaoundé, Her Excellency Françoise Collet, announced funding of approximately 13 billion CFA Francs (20 million Euros), for the period 2015-2017. This was at the first sub-regional Conference of Mayors of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) in the political capital of Cameroon, on 15 and 16 January 2016. Under the heading "Strengthening the mobilisation of local revenue" on the basis of addressing operations carried out in the cities of Central Africa, the members of the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF) and the mayors of the CEMAC space met in Yaoundé, under the aegis of the Urban Community of the host city, the AIMF and the EU Commission, to consider an Action Plan for the recognition of the Local Authority (LA).
