Ghana: 40yr Devt Plan focuses on meeting world consumer standards

The National Development Planning Commission has placed top on the need to improve systems that ensure the optimum quality of exports from Ghana. The quality of goods produced from Ghana have been questioned in relation to their ability to meet world standards. Exports of certain vegetables from the country to the European Union were banned earlier in 2015,  due to poor standards and low pest resistance. The National Development Planning Commission has therefore placed at the top, the need to improve systems that ensure the optimum quality of exports from Ghana. Head of NDPC, Dr. Nii moi Thompson said " it is critical. One of the deficiencies of past planning we are trying to rectify is to have an aspect that focuses on Ghana's position on the international economy. Previously we only concentrated on promoting private sector development, agriculture and so on, without concentrating on the standards that must be met internationally." Dr. Nii Moi Thompson revealed that the commission will dedicate considerable resources in drawing a plan, as part of the 40- year development plan on how best to increase the value of goods produced from Ghana.
